The Rmn-Grand Palais honours the Renaissance through a collection of stationery made from models of foliage, grotesques and moresques by Johann Ambrosius Siebmacher, (c. 1561-1611) Nuremberg engraver.
The success of this renaissance ornamental repertoire continued unabated over the following centuries, particularly during the reign of Louis XIV, as artists and craftsmen continued to draw motifs from it to enhance the decorative arts.
Today, this refined repertoire serves as inspiration for these products from the Parisian workshops of excellence. The engraving comes from the national collections of the Renaissance Museum, Château d'Ecouen.
