His entire body of work is imbued with his personal history,
as well as biblical references, fairy tales, and daydreams, all of which are open to multiple interpretations. Most of his works are housed at the Marc Chagall National Museum in Nice, a veritable treasure trove built during the artist's lifetime at the instigation of André Malraux to house the donation made by the painter to the French state.
