The chessboard is made up of alternating squares: some in ivory engraved with various motifs, others with stylized flowers in ivory on a walnut background. Interior adorned with the king's cypher, inscribed in a crown on each tray with a different motif: a scepter, a sword, a club, and two caduceus (cover).
