Inspired by Claude Monet's Gare Saint-Lazare, 1877.
Oil on canvas, H. 75.0; L. 105.0 cm.
A collection initiated by the Musée d'Orsay and the Réunion des musées nationaux - Grand Palais.
The Papier Tigre studio was invited to take a fresh look at the Musée d'Orsay's masterpieces and create a stationery collection.
The creative teams at the Papier Tigre Papier Tigre studio, with their boundless imagination in the exploration of shapes and colors, offer us a singular experience in the encounter of works by Cabanel, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Monet and Cross. Graphic creations in notebooks invite us to discover them with the same revolutionary eye that 19th-century painters cast on the world: no longer delimited forms, but atmospheric vibrations or colored impressions. The gradations of blur that cover the works evoke the invention of photography, which played such a crucial role in the birth of these modern views. The museum's emblematic clock stylistically places the works in their museum context. Through this mise en abîme, these poetic creations retranscribe the colorful impressions that these paintings leave in our memory, revealing their modernity. And as a playful wink, the foggy memory of the work can be brightened up thanks to the photo of the original, which can be found on the last page.
