Pei Pyramid Collection
Design by Sam Baron for the Louvre Museum
French designer Sam Baron has chosen to pay tribute to the Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei, who designed the glass pyramid in the 80s, as a contrast to the aesthetic of the Cour Napoléon in the Louvre Palace. This pyramid is reflected inverted inside the museum, creating a unique geometric design which has been transformed into a graphic motif and applied to the various objects in this collection.
Sam Baron focuses on the everyday in his work, yet his creations are also derived from practical and artistic research, linked to cultural and historical narratives. Along with multiple exhibitions in international museums and galleries, Baron has also received the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris and was distinguished by Philippe Starck in 2010 as one of the most important designers of the decade.
