French version
A story in which children learn that silence is a precious treasure.
Yein Kim narrates and illustrates the teeming, noisy city in which her heroine, a seamstress donkey named Petite Anette, lives in search of silence.
Like every morning, Anette dreams of escaping her daily routine. Today, she hears a troubadour singing about a mysterious forest reserved for things as silent as air and clouds: "les sans bruit". Anette sets off in search of this magical place. But alas! The townspeople are very curious, and believe a treasure is hidden there - in one night all the trees are cut down.
The story and illustrations touch on many themes of our society, often set against each other: noise, silence; the city, nature; crowds, solitude; reality, dreams; brutality, gentleness; people, animals...
The full-page illustration wraps around the text, providing a wealth of information about the city. A delicate grayness dominates. Touches of color enhance the scenes.
