The dialogue between poetry and painting appears to be one of the most characteristic paths of modern art. And this dialogue of forms is often accompanied by a dialogue of the artists themselves who, in the words of Blaise Cendrars, lived "mixed, probably with the same concerns", at least in pre-First World War Paris.
The publication of the correspondence between Picasso and Apollinaire now makes it possible to follow, so to speak, live, between 1905 and 1918, the dialogue of a friendship that was always demanding, often complicit, but also sometimes hurt, between the two artists.
