God of commerce, protector of travelers, Mercury is the most venerated God in Gaul. This statuette represents him naked, standing. He holds a purse in his right hand. The left hand, which disappeared, was to hold the caduceus. He carries the chlamyde, a woolen drapery piece used as a cloak and tied on the shoulder by a fibula, as well as the winged petase.
