Founded in Paris in 1670 - Louis XIV was 32 years old - HERBIN specialised very early on in the trade of sealing wax, fine stationery and then ink by importing shellac from India. In 1798, the company gambled on the future and changed its commercial destiny: while continuing to produce wax and trade in paper and colours (pigments), it launched its own ink production under the impetus of Jacques HERBIN, member of the fourth generation.
