DIVINO INFERNO
RODIN AND THE GATES OF HELL
Divino Inferno reveals the little-known story behind The Gates of Hell - one of the most enigmatic masterpieces in the history of art, and the key to the sculptor Auguste Rodin's oeuvre as a whole. Director Bruno Aveillan, himself an artist, brings a startling visual intensity to this poetic, sensuous documentary, in which he and co-writer Zoé Balthus explore all aspects of the creation of this fascinating monument and paint a vivid picture of Rodin as a visionary artist who pioneered modern art.

RODIN IN HIS TIME
The master sculptor Auguste Rodin became one of the tutelary figures of modernity at the approach of the twentieth century. The new forms of artistic expression that emerged in the late nineteenth century broke with the academic tradition of Romanticism.
Rodin was part of this creative ferment, but he was also fascinatingly unlike any other artist working at the time.
Through his writings and correspondence, this documentary takes a fresh look at Rodin's life and work and plunges us into the social, political, cultural and artistic backdrop against which this towering genius created his sculptures.
