Sébastien Le Clerc, belongs to the great engravers of the court of Louis XIV. He was the king's ordinary engraver from 1693 to 1705. Sébastien Le Clerc's engraved work is estimated at about 3,700 pieces. Of this important production, the chalcography has the plates made for the illustration of the Labyrinth of Versailles, the Tapestries of the King after the paintings of Le Brun as well as the architectural records of royal houses.
