The work and its artist

Félix Vallotton (1865-1925)

The artist of Swiss origin Félix Vallotton, born in 1865 in Lausanne, was naturalized French in 1900. Famous as a wood engraver and illustrator, he was also a prominent painter on the Parisian art scene. His work includes more than 1,700 paintings, nearly 200 engravings, hundreds of drawings, sketches and illustrations, as well as some sculptures and applied works of art. He is also the author of three novels, several plays and about thirty writings on art.
