An immersion in the heart of the creations of the master from Urbino
The Department of Graphic Arts at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille has an exceptional collection of Italian drawings, the famous bequest of the Lille painter and art collector Jean-Baptiste Wicar (1762-1834), whose "heart" is made up of a unique and considerable set of sheets by Raphael (1483-1520), one of the most complete by the Urbino master.
Both a traditional exhibition and an immersive exhibition, the Raphael Experience combines 360° projections, sound wrapping, digital technology, hotography and original works by Raphael, all of which are clues to the heart of the great Italian master's creative process: from the sheet to the paintings, from the drawings to the frescoes.
Reflecting an exhibition with an unusual as well as dynamic journey, the catalogue will reveal to the reader the infinite grace and delicacy of Raphael's drawings and their transposition into monumental paintings and spaces.
