A work with refined forms created in 1960, at the end of Chana Orloff's life, the Acrobat is part of a large ensemble of female figures, and particularly dancers, created by the artist. Her right leg rises gracefully in the extension of her ground leg and elongates the female silhouette. The head, thrown back, accompanies the line of the arms and participates in the general form of the work.
Thus, a fluid and balanced figure bordering on figuration, the Acrobat deploys his body in space in a continuous and harmonious form, as if suspended in movement. The Acrobat is a formal variation of an earlier work by Chana Orloff, The Victory Dancer (1950).
