The catalogue will highlight all crystalline themes, from the material itself to its multiple human uses, from manufacturing techniques to the birth of cubism, from its fundamental role in the development of the hard sciences to its universal shamanic functions, from its use since the Paleolithic era to its constant use in reliquaries of the Middle Ages, essential period of transition between antiquity and modern and contemporary civilizations.
There are things of nature that have amazed us since the dawn of the world, such as the Northern Lights or rainbows. Rock crystal is one of those mysteries. By its shapes, its perfect transparency, the crystal fascinates, transports and reveals itself to those who know how to observe it. It diffracts light, preserves memories and measures time.
The exhibition "Voyage dans le cristal" will immerse the visitor in a universal, fantastic, natural and human story, in the manner of George Sand, with the opening to the world of Nicolas Bouvier, the strength of an Élisée Reclus, the dreamlike perception of Gaston Bachelard and the poetry of Paul Klee.
