Under the pen of Bénédicte Savoy, these objects of desire come to life and illustrate the links that unite Europe with the rest of the world, in the light of current questions about the provenance of works and restitutions.
Indeed, the unique collections of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden are an excellent demonstration of the role of art in the dialogue between cultures. A strong interest in rare and exotic materials, in everyday or ritual objects from other cultures, or in valuable pieces from distant countries, has formed the basis for collecting activities throughout Europe.
