This magnet features Fernand Léger's work 'La Fleur qui marche' (The Walking Flower).
In the 1950s, Fernand Léger frequented the town of Biot, where one of his former students, Roland Brice, worked with ceramics. He wanted to create three-dimensional works and colourful bas-reliefs. For him, 'Colour is as vital as water and fire.' This sculpture project for the Saint-Lô hospital attests to the power of colour with joy and humour.
Fernand Léger, La Fleur qui marche (The Walking Flower), 1952-1953, glazed terracotta sculpture, 64 x 59 x 20 cm. Ceramist Roland Brice. Donated by Nadia Léger and Georges Bauquier, Fernand Léger National Museum.
