Paul Cézanne was born in Aix-en-Provence in 1839. During his youth, he became friends with Zola, who was almost his age, and took drawing lessons. After working for a short time in his father's bank, he decided to make a living from his painting, but his works inspired by the landscapes of Provence were not well received. He met Renoir, Monet and Sisley and participated in the Impressionist exhibitions in Paris in 1874 and 1877. However, he was not successful until 1904, just two years before his death, in his home town.
Paul Cézanne said, "Painting is thinking with a brush."
