Around 1830, Pierre Revel, then employed by the Lyon umbrella manufacturer MM. Poncet Frères, founded the François Revel company in 1851. In view of its growing success, the company created the "Parapluie-Revel" brand in 1900.
In 1922, François Revel called on the talent of Leonetto Cappiello, who designed the famous poster of the 3 umbrellas, published by Devambez, to promote his brand.
