Discover the little-known gems of French heritage, selected by the Heritage Foundation and contribute to their preservation.
Every region of France contains little-known gems, buildings or monuments that need to be identified and often rehabilitated so that everyone can visit them. This is the objective of the Fondation du patrimoine, an independent non-profit organization that has been working since 1996 to safeguard and promote local heritage.
This guide presents the most beautiful of these sites and contains all the practical information needed to visit them. Castles, churches, mills, theaters, writers' houses, private mansions: so many places that are strikingly original and that testify to the diversity of the industrial or rural heritage specific to our 18 regions.
Each emblematic site is accompanied here by historical summaries, anecdotes and unpublished testimonials (craftsmen and project leaders) that give an idea of the living character of our heritage and make us appreciate the richness of our "collective treasure".
In addition, a number of maps are available to suggest itineraries to readers throughout France!
Part of the profits from the sales will be donated to the Stéphane Bern Mission.
