To celebrate the 350th anniversary of the first French opera scene, the exhibition "A certain air of Italy. The Paris Opera from Louis XIV to the Revolution", and the accompanying catalogue, seek to trace the activity of the Royal Academy of Music from the time of the Sun King to the end of the Ancien Régime.
Around a hundred pieces, from the National Library of France, the museums of France and the National Archives - handwritten scores, set and costume models, room projects, administrative regulations, etc. -The reader is invited to discover the birth of a "French taste" that had to assert itself in the ambiguous relationship between a national ambition and the aspiration to a transalpine model.
