In October 2011, the new Orsay opened its doors after major renovation and reorganization work, with works of art highlighted more prominently, exhibition areas enlarged and visitor circuits rethought. As the establishment's slogan proclaims, "Tout est à revoir" ("Everything has to be redesigned").
The former railway station has been given a facelift to house masterpieces by the great artists of the late 19th century: paintings by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Manet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Courbet, Millet, Corot, sculptures by Rodin, Claudel and Maillol are here to be discovered and rediscovered.
