Nicknamed "the Sistine Chapel of Impressionism", the Orangery embodies the artistic abundance of an era. In the heart of the Tuileries garden, it was first chosen by Monet to become the setting for his latest masterpiece, Les Nymphéas. Specially designed to highlight these eight magnificent compositions, the museum has also housed since 1984 the very rich Jean Walter and Paul Guillaume collection, i.e. 144 paintings by the greatest names in painting of the late 19th and early 20th centuries: Renoir, Cézanne, Modigliani, Matisse, Laurencin, Utrillo, Le Douanier Rousseau, Picasso, who build a true historical and aesthetic identity.
