This cup is inspired by a detail of a dish with three jars (sanko) decoration (Japan, Edo period (1603-1868), 18th century) - Porcelain with underglaze cobalt blue decoration and enamels. H. 5,8; W. 20,3 cm. Paris, Musée national des arts asiatiques-Guimet. Donation Ernest Grandidier, 1894).

This porcelain presents the most perfect form of Japanese ceramics. Indeed, documents from the 19th century present these productions as pieces that were never sold or exported, but were offered to high-ranking people under the Tokugawa.
