Sandro Botticelli (1445 - 1510)
Venus and the three Graces Venus and the Three Graces Presenting Gifts to a Young Woman (1475 - 1500) - H. 2,11 m ; w. 2,83 m - Fresco (buon fresco) on plaster
Discovered in 1873 in the Villa Lemmi, then belonging to P. Lemmi; in place until 1881; St. Bardini (1836-1922), art dealer, Florence; acquired from him through Charles Ephrussi, 1882
These frescoes both decorated (R.F. 322), together with a third one (still in place in a very incomplete and destroyed state) the walls of a room on the first floor of Villa Lemmi (Chiasso dei Macerelli near Florence), owned between 1469 and 1541 by the Tornabuoni family.
