Pierre Alechinsky was born in 1927 in Brussels. After studying at the National School of Architecture and Decorative Arts in Brussels, he joined the group of young Belgian painters, joined the Cobra movement (from Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam, where the main artists came from) then moved to Paris in 1951, where he studied engraving. He exhibits paintings, drawings and engravings around the world and receives numerous awards. He was appointed professor at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1984.
